More
I have worked in the voluntary sector since 1996 with children, young people, and adults in a wide variety of settings, as a project worker and as a manager. In 2011 I returned to education to undertake the Masters in Social Work at the University of York, graduating with Distinction in 2013. My dissertation involved original research on self-disclosure of sexual orientation by social workers with clients, which led to the opportunity to undertake a PhD, again at the University of York, and carry out further research on how mental health practitioners share their own lived experience with service users. I completed my PhD in 2018. I work at the University of York.
